Girard-Perregaux invited us to Art Basel in Miami this week. Today, it announced the introduction of a new collection of high-quality sports watches called Hawk. The first, the Sea Hawk, is a diving watch and the second, the Chrono Hawk, is — you guessed it — a chronograph. Both balance a modern design with the tradition of the house. Girard-Perregaux’s applauded for its in-house movement production, and both of these sports watches’ movements were entirely developed in-house.

When the company says these watches were made to withstand the most demanding of situations, it wasn’t sensationalizing. The Sea Hawk is water-resistant up to 1,000 meters. Further protection can be seen in the watch’s screwed caseback, which gives it shock resistance. Obviously, this diving watch is built to last, and what we found exciting about this watch is its juxtaposition of steel and rubber. This watch could actually be worn with a suit (instead of the traditional dress watch), and come off as athletic yet appropriate.

The chronograph is also equally sporty as it is sophisticated. It’s available in a brown or black leather strap. Some features we especially like are the satin-finish bezel, the sapphire caseback and the two chronograph counters that face each other.
